I have been trying, unsuccessfully i might add, to read Sol Platjie's Mhudi for just under two months now. I was utterly elated when i bought the book and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it, but now all this time has passed and i'm still not even half way through reading it.
This cross between fiction and historical events claims boldness, tumultuos dramatics and an epic tale of great love, but upon picking it up I found it very hard to read more than a few pages of the book in a sitting. I found it a tad to detailed, slow and lacking a rhythm and flow, the author's use of language was out dated and that did nothing to aid it's "readability".
I wanted to love this book, but it failed me and i must i admit i don't think i even like it.
